POS, Print Production, Catalogue, Retail, Mailer.
Hi, I’m a hard-working and very experienced Mac Operator. I have over twenty years of experience in Mac operation, typography, page layouts, production for print, project management and client liaison.
Over the years I have produced over 100 magazines, and all kinds of other work for print, including travel brochures, books, packaging, advertisements, retail mailers, sign-writing design, illustration, branding work, concept design, annual reports, stationery, forms, graphs, maps and website graphics, for a range of clients and companies. I have worked as a Mac Operator in New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and Spain’s Canary Islands.
I have freelanced in the past at Advertising Agencies like Colenso, Whybin TBWA, and Seven Group in Auckland, and McCann Erickson in the UK. Last year I had a stint in the marketing department of The Warehouse Ltd, producing their weekly mailers and also their jewellery mailers and point-of-sale items.
I’m very experienced in the use of InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat. I've also done some illustration, copywriting, proof reading and photography. I can work from a client’s brief right through to the print-ready pdf.
I have an appreciation of work-flow, am self-motivated and committed to completing a job to the highest possible quality in a fast and efficient manner. I am in possession of a sense of humour.
Many companies that I have freelanced for in the past have asked for me back by name.

Title: The Warehouse National Mailer (weekly) and Jewellery Mailers
Software: InDesign & Photoshop
Industry: Retail
Medium: Print, Catalogue, Brochure
In 2010 I worked in the busy marketing department at the head office (store support office) of The Warehouse Ltd. I was mainly working on the national mailer. This involved taking art direction, laying out to a specific and exact brief, sometimes clear-cutting the product images, and liaising with the buyers (the internal clients) to get each page signed off, under intense time pressure.
I also produced several small 8 page high-quality jewellery mailers, designing and laying out the pages in conjunction with the Art Director and jewellery buyer. On occasion I designed and laid out point-of-sale, website graphics, and TV commercial frames.
Title: NZBusiness Magazine (Dec 2008 cover shown)
Software: InDesign, Photoshop
Industry: Publishing
Medium: Print, Magazine, Publication
When I worked at Adrenalin Publishing I was responsible for design and production of three magazines: NZBusiness – 72 pages full colour (monthly), Digest of Engineering and manufacturing (DEMM, monthly), and Electrical & Automation Technology (every two months).
This meant collating all the incoming word docs and images, retouching and colour balancing the images, laying out the editorial pages, and also designing some of the ads. After that would make proofreading changes with the Editor, and then send the file to the printer. I also created an animated website header banner (using Photoshop) for this website: www.nz4wd.co.nz.
Title: Olympic Legends Book
Software: InDesign
Industry: Publishing, Sport
Medium: Print / Packaging
I produced this 264 page book for Hill- Verdon Publishing Ltd, whilst I was employed by Envisage Design. I managed and laid out the whole project, including determining pagination with the client. This job required organisational skills to collate and compile the incoming information for use in the book. There were many old photographs supplied by the athletes. These all had to be scanned, and in many cases sympathetically retouched to remove old scratches and blemishes.
This was a satisfying and enjoyable project which was completed successfully. I also produced a similar book called The Immortals, about NZ cricketers.
