Helene Ravlich

SENIOR . Specialist writer

Raised in West Auckland and now a long term resident of the Central suburb of Ponsonby, I have done considerable time as a librarian, shop girl and hand model en route to my career as a writer, copywriter, editor and sub-editor.

Now entering my fourteenth year in the business, I currently work as a freelance journalist and editor, and complete copy writing work for several web and design agencies.

I have written and edited the official public guide to New Zealand Fashion Week, The Guide, for the past four years, along with copywriting the NZFW daily newsletters and Look Book. I am also Editor-at-Large and Beauty Editor of Black magazine, and a regular contributor to high profile Australian publications Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia. As a freelance writer, copywriter and editor, my name makes regular appearances in publications such as Ponsonby News, Rip It Up and Open 2 View, and in the past I have had work appear in Real Groove, ReMix, the Sunday Star-Times and the New Zealand Herald’s Viva section. I have also written on a very regular basis for Sunday magazine, including several cover stories and beauty features.

Also a copywriter specialising in press releases and website work, I have written websites for the likes of James McCarty Jeweller, Powersurge Metalworks and the Yellow Pages’ Guide to Auckland.

Over the years my regular PR clients have included clothing label Huffer, Red Bull, Kiwi Shoe Polish, Mudbrick Vineyard, the Cancer Society of New Zealand and 9am People. I have also worked closely with marketing specialists Forrester Marketing and MaxHealth as their PR practitioner and copywriter on call. Past agency contracts have been at PR agency Publicis Drum (where I managed the international launch of Raspberry Coke) and advertising agency DDB/WRC (where my clients included grocery giant Wattie’s). I have also worked independently as a PR practitioner on contract to companies as diverse as the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Jim Beam, Red Bull and TVNZ.
