Six years as Creative Director taking a student radio station and turning it into the Multi-national Corporate sell-out that bFM is today, certainly helped me find a solid ten years in Whybin/TBWA. It also gave me a chance to co-host a legendary radio show, discover how easy winning awards was, hang with Dave Grohl and tell Ozzy that the bFM toilet wasn’t the on-air studio.
That ten years let me expand my radio-bound horizons and work across all types of media and drop names such as Apple, Visa and PlayStation - as well as co-writing one of the countries best-loved and longest running Television campaigns for ASB.
My time at TBWA let me push the dreary boundaries of traditional advertising in ways I never thought possible. Like selling real estate on other planets and writing and performing an original composition for PlayStation Tan. It also allowed me to gain experience in LA, Sydney, Paris and London with short stints in TBWA’s broad network.
So as well as working on your next project, I now help run a wee ad agency as part of NO. Magazine called NO Idea with carefully selected clients associated with the advertising-servicing lunch industry. I also spend a bit of time as Creative Director at a well-known film company, trying to help Film Directors win pitches as well as the hearts of Creative’s like, well… me.
