Guerilla specialist Hadleigh Averill joins The Pond

Guerilla specialist Hadleigh Averill–previously resident at creative hot shops BlueberryFrog and Cunning Stunts in Europe–has joined The Pond.

Overseas, 'guerilla' has become much less 'scambient' and more strategically sound ambient media. It's a cheap way to reach the audience on their own turf. It attracts great PR. And it lends itself to some nice creative opportunities.

The man himself claims to be many things to many people. "You will probably most get to know me as an art director, chomping at the bit with fresh thinking on guerilla marketing.

But I'm also a trained artist. I have pieces in galleries in London and Amsterdam and I've collaborated with many interesting people, including an American Indian shaman in South Dakota who showed me how to paint using lightning! (BTW, shamans are like witch doctors…if you didn't already know.)

I'm a man of adventure. I've lived in a cave in the Himalayas and I've bunked down on a deserted island in the Bay of Bengal.

I'm a prankster. I successfully faked my own death by gunshot wound (if you don't believe me check out the front page of the NZ Herald from 9 September 1996).

And I'm a streaker. Yes that's right I'll do anything to get attention. So far I've hung it all out in 12 major cities around the globe, watch out for me at the cricket and the rugby!"
